How To Give Your Front Door A Makeover In Four Steps

Refresh your home’s first impression

The front door starts and completes your home’s look. When it comes to the front door paint colours - the added touch of style acts as your personal stamp and reveals your personality. Whether the statement you want to make is simple and minimal or elaborate and expressive, there is no better place to make an impact to the look of your home than your front door.

Remove your door

Remove your door and place it on sawhorses outside or in a well-ventilated area.

Take the door's hinges and hardware off

Remove your door's hardware and hinges. Cover any glass or accents with painter’s tape. Be sure to clean your door’s surface with a wet sponge, lightly sand the surface and wipe it clean.

Apply your fresh paint

Apply a high quality exterior paint + primer in one, such as Olympic® ONE® Exterior Paint, in either a satin or semi-gloss sheen with a foam brush starting in the center and working your way to the edges. Allow the first coat to dry according to the label's specifications before applying a second coat to ensure a flawless, durable finish.

Return the door to its place

Hang your newly painted door, reattach all hardware and share your home’s new first impression with friends, family and neighbors!
